You can change lives forever through your generosity and support. Your donation will help to:
  • Benefit those in need
  • Redistribute appropriate medical supplies and equipment for use by local individuals, healthcare and social-service agencies and medical mission teams serving the Third World
  • Reduce the disposal of usable medical supplies and durable medical equipment into community landfills and incinerators
  • Provide service learning opportunities for volunteers

HERO is now an ADVANCE Project with the Methodist Church.

How gifts can be sent through The Advance:

1.   By Church Offering:

Donors can make your check payable to your local church. Write the name of the ministry and the Advance code number on the check. Drop your gift in any United Methodist church offering plate or give your gift to your church treasurer, so that your church and annual conference will get Advance credit.

2.   By Phone:

Credit card gifts can be accepted by phone. The telephone number is: 888-252-6174

3.  By Mail:

Donors can make checks payable to ADVANCE GCFA. Write the name of the ministry and the Advance code number on the check. Send your check to:

Advance GCFA

4.  Give Online:

Donors can give to any of the ministries, missionaries and projects currently supported by The United Methodist Church through Global Ministries. Project HERO supports several local and regional faith-based organizations by supplying medical goods for their mission teams throughout the world. So often, these missions are unable to be supported financially by those giving their time and talents to this work. Those individuals or churches willing to lend a helping hand to these selfless efforts are able to assist by serving as a Mission Sponsor or Mission Donor.

Memorial or Honorarium Gifts

Consider giving a gift in honor of someone special or in memory of a friend or loved one.

A great way to partner with HERO.

Planned Gifts

Planned gifts can benefit Project HERO while helping you to save taxes, increase your income and pass more on to your heirs. Through planned giving, you can make provisions for HERO to receive a gift at some time in the future, usually after your death. There are a variety of planned giving options that provide significant tax advantages, both to you and your heirs. Consider including HERO in your estate plan.

Specific Bequests
Made through a will, specific bequests direct a designated amount or specific estate assets to HERO.

Residual Bequests
Made through a will, residual bequests consist of all or part of the estate that remains after specific bequests are honored.

Contact us at any time for assistance! We look forward to helping you meet your giving needs.

Please remember: HERO does not render legal, tax or investment advice. Please consult professional counsel for individual financial planning decisions.

Did you know that . . .

  1. You can receive income for life in exchange for a gift?
  2. Giving appreciated property, like stocks or real estate, costs less than giving the equivalent amount of cash?
  3. Some assets can benefit you more if you give them away?
  4. Some gifts cost nothing now but leave a legacy later?
  5. Some gifts allow you to pass more on to your heirs and save taxes?

* Individuals making financial gifts to HERO will receive recognition in the newsletter and on the Web site unless otherwise requested.

Donations of Medical Supplies and Equipment

HERO's supplies can make life cleaner, safer and more comfortable for patients and caretakers in the Fargo-Moorhead area. HERO works with local healthcare agencies to identify individuals who are unable to obtain these items for themselves.

HERO offers the opportunity to donate durable medical equipment and unopened medical supplies that no longer are needed. Feel good about helping others . . . and remember: Your donations are tax-deductible as a charitable contribution!

Preparing Your Equipment Donation

To assist in redistributing your donations of medical equipment and supplies, please consider the following:

  • Be sure your equipment donations have been recently cleaned and are in good working condition
  • Do not disassemble equipment, particularly heavy items such as hospital beds
  • Include all accessories with equipment, including power cords, patient cables, transducers, spare parts and operation and service manuals
  • Medical supplies should be sorted by type and placed in separate plastic bags or boxes
  • HERO staff is unable to assist with lifting or moving large items
  • HERO is unable to pick up or deliver donations due to limited resources

HERO is Unable to Accept

When evaluating donations for local individuals and mission hospitals, we consider equipment condition, intended use, maintenance requirements, availability of parts or accessories and other factors. Project HERO evaluates potential donations to ensure that we provide only good quality, useful and appropriate equipment and supplies. Please avoid donating the following to HERO:

  • Soiled or broken equipment
  • Pharmaceuticals and medications
  • Items from patients who were quarantined or kept in isolation
  • Exposed needles (injection, IV, suture)
  • Outdated medications (IV solution, infant formula, adult nutritional drinks such as Ensure)
  • Renal dialysis or peritoneal dialysis supplies
  • Dismantled Beds or equipment
Other Considerations
  • Most plastic, disposable items cannot be reused and generally are not accepted.
  • Liquids such as cleaners, IV solutions and medications are very difficult to ship and cannot be accepted.
  • Recent medical textbooks (written within the last five years) are useful; however, medical journals or magazines cannot be accepted.
  • For mission work, mechanical tables, beds and equipment are preferred over equipment that requires electricity to operate.
Questions?

Due to space limitations or other considerations, please contact HERO at 218.284.6111 in advance to arrange for donations of large items or electronic equipment, including:

  • Hospital beds (manual and electric-in working order)
  • Nebulizers
  • Cautery equipment
  • Suction equipment
  • Air-powered instrumentation

Donate to Cars for Charity

When were you last offered the opportunity to be a hero in your community and receive a tax deduction? It’s simple – leave the details to us.

Through a partnership with Midwest Public Auto Auction, HERO is able to accept vehicles for auction. The auction price of the vehicle is donated to HERO to support its work in the community.

If you’d like to support HERO, please consider donating vehicles that you or a loved one no longer need or use. You may prefer taking a tax deduction (for the full purchase price at auction) to a trade-in or paying to have the vehicle junked or transported out of the area.
Both individuals and businesses may participate in this program. Leave the details to us…and help those in the community in greatest need.

Donated vehicles should be in working condition.

Vehicles Accepted:

  • Cars
  • Trucks
  • Riding lawn mowers
  • Fleet vehicles
  • Farm vehicles
